The Mountain es el noveno álbum de estudio de Gorillaz. Grabado entre India, Londres y otros lugares, se construye sobre instrumentación clásica india (sitar, sarod, flauta bansuri, percusiones) mezclada con electrónica, pop y hip hop, con letras en inglés, árabe, hindi, español y yoruba.
Conceptualmente gira en torno a la muerte, el duelo y el más allá, inspirado en pérdidas personales recientes de Damon Albarn y Jamie Hewlett.
